Wilkes-Barre, PA — Bacon Hill Scott moved up in class and pulled off a stunning upset in the featured $22,000 Open Handicap Trot on Tuesday afternoon (April 29) at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

Let go at 29-1, Bacon Hill Scott sat third for the entire race until unleashing a huge drive on the outside in the stretch. Driven by Mike Simons, the 6-year-old gelding trotted by the two horses in front of him to win by a length in a career-best time of 1:55.2. Khifra Hanover finished second while the 8-5 favorite Scorpion Moon picked up the show.

Owned by Jim Ray of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., who is also the trainer, and John Alutto, Jr., Bennett Velocci, and John Esposito of New York, Bacon Hill Scott picked up his sixth win in 16 starts in 2008 and his 21st lifetime victory. It was the second straight win at Pocono for the son of Sir Taurus, and he has now earned just shy of $180,000 in his career.
