Barolo Hanover scores at Tioga

Nichols, NY — Barolo Hanover finally made it back to the winner’s circle on Saturday night (August 25) at Tioga Downs in the second division of the United Sound Pacing Series.

Barolo Hanover lowered his mark to 1:52.3.

Howard “Pacing” Parker piloted the 5-year-old son of The Panderosa to a new lifetime mark of 1:52.3. Barolo Hanover had been second in four of his last five starts against the top pacers at Tioga and enjoyed the class relief with a front end score.

The 5-year-old pacer is owned by Colby Hubble and Jacob Ramsburg, both of Maryland, and Colby Hubble also does the training. With the winner’s share of the $8,500 purse, Barolo Hanover increased his seasonal bankroll to more than $31,000 for the year.

Matrix’s Z Tam and Brian Mattison took the first division of the United Sound Pace. The mile of 1:53 established a new lifetime mark for the 4-year-old Cole Muffler son, who is owned by Maine Prime Time Stable of Monmouth, Maine.

Heavy favorite Jaccka Leveque N and Greg Merton set the pace through fractions of :28.2, :57.1 and 1:25.3. but could not hold off the :27.1 charge of Matrix’s Z Tam through the final panel.

It was the fifth win in 19 outings this year for the Paul Kelley trainee, who increased his seasonal bankroll to more than $38,000 with the winner’s share of the $9,000 purse.

Silverado Hall dished out the upset victory in the first leg of the $8,500 Binghamton Mets Trotting Series with Ron Abbot in the sulky. The 4-year-old son of Conway Hall held off a first over charge from heavy favorite Khifra Hanover and established a new track record for 4-year-old trotting stallions with the mile of 1:56.4.

Howard Parker posted a driving triple on the night’s 12-race card while Mike Simons enjoyed a double.
