Bartlett is hot at Plainridge

Plainville, MA Jason Bartlett had the hot hand on Tuesday, scoring a pair of sub-1:55 victories in action at Plainridge Racecourse.

Bartlett’s first victory came aboard Artchie Andrews in the afternoon’s third race, as the four-year-old son of Artiscape went gate-to-wire in 1:54.3. Owned by the Windsor Kon X Tion of Augusta, Maine, Artchie Andrews was a head better than Stand Sharp BJ (Fern Paquet, Jr.). Prodigal Two (Scott Nichols) finished third.

While Artchie Andrews was the favorite, Bartlett’s next sub-1:55 winner had little respect from the betting public. Despite 17-1 odds, Artofthemillenium was never seriously challenged as the Bickmore brothers’ horse led at every pole en route to a 1:54.4 win. Brian Bickmore owns the pacer, while Randy Bickmore trains. Maddys Cam (Paquet) grabbed the place position while Doctor Will (Ron Cushing) rallied for the show spot.

For the second consecutive Tuesday, Best After Midnite posted a victory in the featured $7,000 event for $20,000 claimers. Driver Bob Sumner put the pacer in excellent position, grabbing the second over trip behind Powerhouse Sahbra (Shawn Gray). In the stretch Best After Midnite wore down Powerhouse Sahbra, prevailing by three parts of a length. Master Of Illusion (Mike Eaton) fiished third in the 1:54.2 mile.

Racing resumes at Plainridge on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. and is highlighted by three divisions of second round action in the Bunker Hill Trot.
