Beachy Girl dominated her Kentucky Sires Stake leg in 1:53 to remain unbeaten in five career starts.

Driven by Ricky Macomber, Jr., the 2-year-old Real Desire filly paced away to win by 5-3/4 lengths for co-owners Hal Hewitt and trainer Joe Seekman. Beachy Girl is slated to start next in the She’s A Great Lady Stakes at Mohawk Raceway, according to Seekman.

“We hope we can get into the ($200,000 KYSS) final here, but it will be tough if we go away,” Seekman said. “We will just have to hope one filly wins here every week while we’re gone so we can still get in the final.”

Hewitt, a resident of nearby Versailles, Ky., has witnessed each of Beachy Girl’s starts this year, including wins in the $51,490 Whenuwishuponastar Series final at Mohawk and the $25,000 Hanover Stakes at Balmoral Park. She has won $59,195 lifetime.

“We’ve seen her in every start, including qualifiers,” a jubilant Hewitt said after the race. “That’s why we buy them.”

Hewitt and Seekman purchased Beachy Girl as a yearling for $21,000. She was bred by W Springtime Stable and Shannon Brott of New York. Beachy Girl’s dam, Color Me Beachy, won the $40,000 Review at Springfield as a 2-year-old five years ago to the day.

The Red Mile carded 16 heats on a busy Sunday night card, including 14 KYSS heats. Driver Mike Lachance scored five times on the card. Lachance picked up a surprise win on the undercard with Larpege, who paid $81.60 to win. Larpege is a 2-year-old trotting colt by Daguet Rapide out of Hambletonian winner Continentalvictory. He is trained and leased by Jean Pierre Dubois.

On Monday night, August 13, The Red Mile will send 18 heats postward with the first heat slated for 6:30 p.m. The 3-year-olds will go to the gate in the first leg of KYSS action with North America Cup winner Tell All among the early favorites in race 11.
