Campbellville, ON — Bella Dolce simply toyed with her competition on Friday night (August 15) at Mohawk to extend her current win streak to five in winning one of two C$25,000 SBOA Stakes eliminations for 3-year-old filly trotters.

The daughter of Kadabra-Pizza Dolce sat sixth in the early stages before beginning a long, uncovered journey just before the half. There was never an anxious moment for the filly, in rein to Paul MacDonell, as she idled to a 1:56.3 win over a track rated as sloppy. Gaelic Mistress was a well-beaten second with Countess Stormont rounding out the top three.

The victory made it five in a row for Bella Dolce, who went winless in her first six outings of the season. The Kevin O’Reilly trainee increased her seasonal bankroll to just over C$240,000 with the win. She returned a popular $2.10 to her backers.

In contrast, Good Common Cents posted a 19-1 upset in the second elimination for driver Keith Oliver. The daughter of Kadabra-Good As Your Word converted from a ground-saving trip to haul down Nashotah and Abby Kadabra in 1:58.

It was the second win of the season in 12 tries for the Larry Walker-trained filly who is owned by Charles Armstrong and vaulted her past C$100,000 in career earnings.

The C$201,300 SBOA Filly Trot Final will be contested next Friday night (August 22) at Mohawk. No eliminations were required for the 3-year-old filly pacers, so the eight horses who declared head directly to the final.
