Bolivar captures featured trot at Cal-Expo

from Cal-Expo Raceway

Sacramento, CA — Bolivar easily captured the featured trot at Cal-Expo on Sunday, March 20. Eight trotters showed up to race in the conditioned $3,800 event, seven of them apparently vying for second as the winner was 3-5 on the morning line while the bettors sent him off 2-5. Not only was he the best horse, but he drew inside.

Tim Twaddle sent Bolivar out of the gate strongly, but accepted the pocket when Amazing Glide also left. However, with five-eighths left to trot, Twaddle let him out a notch and he easily came around the leader and never looked back, winning in 1:58.2 eased.

The next best class in the race was Blue Overcoat and that veteran came late under the guidance of Rick Kuebler to grab second. Gene Vallandingham also came late with his mare Meadowbranch Pat to take the show dough.

Twaddle and Leroy Benitez own the winner and Twaddle also trains him. He is an eight-year-old gelding by Armbro Solar, out of the Chip Blaze dam Mighty Classy. This was his second win in four starts this year.
