George Brennan guided He Means Business to victory in the first race, an $18,000 Clyde Hirt division, and completed the early double with Westland Sun in the second.

Brennan’s momentum began in the early double as he guided He Means Business [$32.20] to victory in the first race, an $18,000 Clyde Hirt division, and completed the early double with Westland Sun [$7.60] in the second. He was back in the winner’s circle in the fourth race, a $20,000 Complex Series division, with Line Of Fire [$10.60] and later guided Allamerican Major [$6.80] to an impressive 4-1/2 length victory in 1:50.4 in the eighth race Clyde Hirt division. Brennan uncorked two more wins in race 11 with Morguns Sweetheart [$5.20] and race 13 with Ramona Disomma [$3.60] for a total of six on the card.

Brennan suffered a compound wrist fracture in an accident at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on May 31, 2008 that kept sidelined for four months. After two surgeries and extensive physical therapy, the 41-year-old reinsman returned to the sulky in October. Despite missing two months of the Meadowlands’ January-August meet, Brennan managed to hold onto his runner-up finish to Brian Sears in the standings with 137 wins, marking his best ranking to date. He leads the 2009 standings so far with 16 wins through Friday night.
