Campbellville, ON — Rumorsliesnalibies turned in a gate-to-wire 1:59 victory to capture the fastest of two C$15,000 divisions in the opening round of the Bridger Trotting Series for 2-year-old colts and geldings on Thursday night (August 9) at Mohawk Racetrack.

The son of former Canadian record holder Dr Ronerail shot straight to the front from post five for driver Steve Condren and did not look back, holding off Kangamangus and Northern Zephyr.

The victory was a maiden-breaking win in the fifth career start for Rumorsliesnalibies, who is co-owned by John Allen and trainer Bill Van Katwyk of Ontario.

The opening split in race two went to Waterstone for trainer-driver Jimmy Takter in 1:59.4. The son of Yankee Glide-PJs Nannette converted off a pocket trip to haul down pacesetter Lancer Springs.

It was the first career start for the $70,000 yearling purchase out of last fall’s Lexington Selected Sale. He is owned by Christina Takter of New Jersey, Margaret Oweida of Florida, and John Fielding and Louie Camara of Ontario.

The Bridger Series continues next Thursday night at Mohawk.

Robert Stewart Stakes filly trot divisions redrawn

The Mohawk race office held a redraw for the Robert Stewart Stakes divisions for 2-year-old filly trotters on Thursday evening. The C$85,000 divisions will be carded this Sunday evening as part of a 12-race program.

The redraw was necessitated after Kadealia, at first declared ineligible due to having charted breaks in her two previous charted lines, was then declared eligible after ORC judges at Kawartha Downs reviewed the video of her July 31 start and ruled she should not have been charted with a break.

Kadealia, a daughter of Kadabra, trained by Carl Jamieson, will leave from post five in the third division in race six.

Sunday’s card will also feature a trio of Robert Stewart divisions for rookie filly pacers and the C$130,000 OSS Gold Final for 3-year-old colt and gelding pacers. First post is at 7:20 p.m.
