Bruiser cruising towards series sweep
April 10, 2009,by Karen Briggs, WEG Media
Toronto, ON — There’s just one question for Saturday night’s (April 11) C$87,100 final of the Spring Pacing Championship: can anyone get past Ramegade Bruiser?
The burly son of Rambaran has been practically unstoppable in recent months, and has had everything his own way in the preliminary legs of this series, romping to victory over Clown’s Smile in the opener, and over a game Stormaway in the sequel.
He has racked up seven wins, a second and a third in nine starts so far this season, with earnings of $155,805 for owner/trainer David Brown of Cannington, Ontario. Another win on Saturday will push the 6-year-old gelding near the $200,000 mark and it’s only April.
Still, this is an impressive field of the WEG circuit’s best mature pacers, and anything can happen in a horse race, so there’s sure to be plenty of excitement for this lucrative final. Come cheer on ‘the Bruiser’ in the Spring Pacing Championship on Saturday, April 11, at Woodbine; it’s race six, post time 9:15 p.m.
