Calgary Hanover and Speed Date among Miss NJ eligibles

Trenton, NJ — Calgary Hanover, winner of the $600,000 Breeders Crown for 2-year-old pacing fillies at Woodbine, and Speed Date, winner of $207,926 at 2, head a list of 46 New Jersey-sired 3-year-old pacing fillies eligible to the $200,000 Tom D’Altrui Miss New Jersey Pace on June 2 at The Meadowlands.

The SBOANJ-sponsored filly companion race to the Abbatiello Pacing Classic, is named for Thomas N. D’Altrui, the long-time SBOANJ Board member and officer who has been a leading Standardbred breeder in New Jersey as the owner of DI Farms.

Calgary Hanover, a daughter of Western Ideal, earned $372,635 with a mark of 1:53.2 at 2, while Speed Date, also by Western Ideal, earned a large portion of her purse money winning a division of the Molly Pitcher in 1:57 at Freehold and a second place finish in the Sweetheart Final at The Meadowlands.

Among other top NJ-sired fillies eligible to this year’s D’Altrui Miss New Jersey are Me And My Baby (Artiscape), winner of $193,088 and the NJSS Final at Freehold among four victories in nine starts, with a mark of 1:53.1; Al’s Girl (Artsplace), winner of four of 10 races and $191,525, including divisions of the International Stallion Stake, Bluegrass and Eternal Camnation, and a mark of 1:53.4; Lady Mattgalane (Artiscape), winner of four of seven and $142,535; Southwind Rio (Artsplace), winner of $142,070; and Platinum Hanover (Western Ideal), winner of five of seven at 2, who has won her last five starts as a 3-year-old this year.

Elimination heats are schedule for May 25.
