Cambest Prince overcame post eight to give trainer Jeff Cox a weekend feature sweep when he won the $11,500 Invitational Handicap Pace at Northfield Saturday.

Reuben N and Silver D Moon battled through the early portion of the race, with Reuben getting the call at the 27.1 quarter and Silver D Moon keeping him parked, taking the lead at the 56.2 half. Meanwhile, Greg Grismore got Cambest Prince away 5th and never tucked to the pylons, watching the speed duel. He went three-wide around the tiring leaders at the 1:26 three-quarter and sprinted home in 28.3 for the 1:54.4 win over fast-closing Ron Jeremy. Ytwok-Bug was third.

The win was the third in six starts for the two-time Northfield Horse of the Year, and combined with Polo Jenn’s win in Friday’s Mares Open Pace, gave trainer Cox the weekend sweep. Sam Jacobs and Charles Burris, Jr., own the ten-year-old Cambest gelding, who went over the $800,000 career earnings mark with the win. The victory was also # 3,996 in Grismore’s career as he posted four wins on the card, a total matched by Aaron Merriman.
