Harbour Belle and Hall of Fame driver John Campbell overcame post 10 and collared Box Of Dreams (Brett Miller) in the final strides to capture the $46,017 Standardbred Trot for freshman fillies Tuesday at the Delaware County Fairgrounds.

As the gates wings folded, Campbell eased Harbour Belle through a pair of breakers and was able to find a spot fourth on the rail past the first quarter in 29.3. The Ivan Sugg owned entry of Box Of Dreams and Short Vacation (J. Duke Sugg) held the top two spots through the 1:00.3 half. Campbell pulled Harbour Belle off the pylons into the stiff wind down the backstretch and pulled along side Box Of Dreams at the three-quarter pole in 1:30.2. The lightly raced Lindy Lane lass trotted home in 29.3 to score the half-length victory.

“I really didn’t have a strategy today from the ten hole,” noted Campbell. “We were able to get the fourth spot at the quarter and she is professional and raced well from there.”

Harbour Belle is trained by Charles Sylvester for Ronald Hughes of Tipp City, Ohio. She increased her bankroll to $69,803 in just four season starts.

In the $53,217 Standardbred for two-year-old colt trotters, Armbro Expressway broke his maiden in his fifth career start with a 2 1/2 length victory over First Street K (Mike Wilder) in 2:02.2.

Campbell sent Armbro Expressway after the early leader Anzio Hall (Ron Steck) and took control of the field of seven just before the half mile station in 1:02.3. The Donerail colt used a 59.4 last half to beat a closing First Street K. Anzio Hall held on for the show spot.

“He is a small colt and handled the turns well,” added Campbell. “His owners had confidence in this colt and he raced real well.”

Armbro Expressway is owned by trainer Sigmond J. Carlisi and Steven J. Carlisi of Michigan.
