Cams Little Imp N holds off Tawny in the Mares Open Handicap Pace.

Ross Wolfenden rushed Cams Little Imp N away from the gate to take a lead she never relinquished on the way to a 1:53 victory in the $25,000 Mares Open Handicap. Tawny, winner of the last top distaff event, came away quickly, but Brad Hanners was forced to find a seat in second before the opening panel and then stalked the winner the rest of the mile. Ann Other Porsche, stepping up after winning last week’s Winners Over, closed for Steve Warrington to finish third.

The win was the second of the year for big-hearted Cams Little Imp N, trained by Wayne Whitson for Les Walls and Jack Upchurch. She has now won $34,620 in 2005.
