Campbellville, ON — The Canadian record for 2-year-old filly trotters was lowered twice on Monday night (September 10) at Mohawk Racetrack as the Campbellville oval played host to a quartet of C$30,000 eliminations for this year’s Oakville Stakes.

The former mark of 1:55.3, set by Syrinx Hanover in October of 2000, was eclipsed in the second elimination when Snow White stopped the clock in 1:55.2 for driver John Campbell.

The powerful daughter of Self Possessed-Moms Millionaire made a quarter-pole move to command at the half in :58.3 and then cruised to an easy victory over Saorse and Anklets Aweigh. It was the seventh win in eight career tries for the Kevin Lare trainee and boosted her bankroll to nearly $270,000 for North State Street Stable and Harness The Power of Delaware.

Bella Dolce set a new Canadian record for freshman filly trotters with her 1:55 score for Paul MacDonell.

The new standard lasted only two races as Bella Dolce posted a devastating 1:55 victory in the third elimination for Paul MacDonell. The slick-gaited daughter of Kadabra-Pizza Dolce showed early speed for the first time in her young career and, once in control at the :56.3 half, would let no one close to her the rest of the way.

Monday night’s win ran the Richard ‘Nifty’ Norman trainee’s undefeated streak to five and increased her bankroll to just over $170,000 for owner David McDuffee of Nashua, N.H.

Flower Lane was an impressive winner in Monday night’s opening split as she scored for Steve Condren in 1:56.2. The daughter of Lindy Lane-Flower Box converted off a pocket trip to turn back Nurse Conway and Jonlinda.

Owned and bred by the Allister Stables of Freehold, N.J., the Brad Maxwell trainee improved her record to six wins in eight starts and increased her seasonal take to $81,827.

In Monday night’s final elimination, Dancing On Stage trotted to her third win of the campaign with a sharp 1:56.3 effort for driver Tim Tetrick. A daughter of Broadway Hall-Giant Step, Dancing On Stage took command past the half and won in dominant fashion over Morguns Sweetheart and There’s A Way, who were both placed up after second-place finisher Diamondsonbroadway was disqualified for violating the breaking rule in the stretch.

The Jim Campbell trainee elevated her earnings to $43,238 for owners Arlene and Jules Siegel of New Hope, Pa.

Michelle’s Power equals own track record in OSS Gold elim

Michelle’s Power equaled her own track record with another scintillating 1:50.1 victory in Monday night’s single C$115,000 Ontario Sires Stakes Gold elimination for 3-year-old filly pacers at Mohawk.

After a recall had been issued initially, the field got away cleanly the second time around and driver Jody Jamieson got Michelle’s Power away seventh in the field of ten and watched as Milliondollarsmile was parked to the opening half in :54.2.

Michelle’s Power was underway in the second quarter and briefly picked up the cover of Iola M, who quickly surged to command on the way to the three-quarters in 1:22.2. Despite being left uncovered, Michelle’s Power continued to advance and had wrestled command as the field turned into the stretch.

Once clear, the daughter of Camluck-Michelle’s Jackpot held her rivals at bay with a strong :27.4 final frame. Milliondollarsmile came back on to finish a gutsy second while Queen Of Royalty finished third.

Monday night’s win was the sixth in 12 starts this season for the Bill Elliott trainee and boosted her seasonal earnings to $412,010. Lifetime, she has banked $837,442 for owner Jeffrey Snyder of New York, N.Y.
