FREEHOLD, NJ – – Only six spots remain for the Cane Pace to be run on Labor Day at Freehold. Eight horses will be fighting for the spots when one elimination race is run on Saturday. Two horses have received byes for the first leg of the pacing triple crown. Total Truth and Feelin Friskie earned the byes as a result of being the top money earners for 2006.

The $100,000 Cane Pace elimination is headed by Took Hanover listed as 2-1 morning line choice. The Noel Daley trained horse will be driven by John Campbell. True North Hanover (3-1), with Dave Palone driving, looks to repeat last week’s win in the Cleveland Classic. True North Hanover is trained by Mickey Burke.

Eckstrom (10-1) is being driven by Freehold’s perennial driving champion Cat Manzi.

Also going for spots in the final are Artstanding (Ron Pierce), Dave Panlone (David Miller), Western Cyclone (Daniel Dube), Livestrong (Yannick Gingras), J K Cu Later (Stephen Smith).

Also to be contested on Saturday are two elimination races for The Battle of Freehold for two-year-old pacers. In each race, the top four finishers will advance to the final. One elimination features Jimmy’s Scooter (Stephen Smith) 3-1, and Meritage Hanover (David Miller) 3-1.

In the second elimination, Beam of Life (Daniel Dube) 2-1 and Outsource (Ron Pierce) 3-1 head the field.

The eliminations are part of a big, fifteen race all superfecta card to be run on Saturday.
