Catskill Steveoffers his picks for the $10,000 Pick-5 at Yonkers Raceway on August 4th, partof the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Last Thursday, Iinvested $16.00 and had two winners and three place finishers. For the meet,I’m 1 for 14 and stand at -$222.30.

Analysis

Race 7: Wide open first leg and I’ll go four deepwith 3, 4, 6, 8 and maybe lean towards the (6) One And Only who is one of threedropdowns in the race that raced well at this level back in May and June andmay try leaving against these and (4) Fameous Western who hasn’t been this lowin class in a while and is another who can show early speed.

Race 8: (1) Motu Moonbeam N just failed to hold on at this level inlast after going three for three in first starts in the U.S. against lesser.Gets the rail and looks tough to catch. (2) Kaitlyn Rae is in razor sharp formright now and figures to be tracking top one. (3) Our Els Dream N has had toughspots chasing fast miles in last two following a solid uncovered placingagainst better three back. Finds a good stalking spot and looks to have thebest shot at surprising top two.

Race 9: (4) Idole Duharas returns to Yonkers atreduced level after a no shot mile from 8-hole in 1:50.3 Pocono mile last timewhich followed a strong 1:51.1 score also at Pocono two back. The 6-year-oldwas in Preferred company north of the border this past spring and figures to bea handful in first try for a tag.

Race 10: (1) Sportskeeper drops and gets the railoff a tough uncovered trip in 1:51.3 mile. (3) Roethblissberger went animproved mile in second start back off sick scratch. The consistent8-year-old has enjoyed a big year and is a threat to take them down theroad.

Race 11: (6) Auspicious Hanover was a judgesscratch last time following a much improved try at Pocono falling a nose shortafter being parked to a :27.1 opening quarter. Could be of some value from thisspot. (7) Skates N Plates was used hard to get the top from 8-hole, did well tohold place in another sharp try. Draws outside but, as usual, has the most gatespeed of any in here and is a threat to control this if he can clear early.
