Catskill Steve offers his picks for the $10,000 Pick-5 at Yonkers Raceway on July 21, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Last Thursday, I invested $24.00 and again had four out of five winners. For the meet, I’m 1 for 12 and stand at -$194.30.

Analysis

Race 7: (4) The Right Move lacked a rally last time after a strong closing try two back pacing a :55.4 final half to just miss. (1) Baby Remind Me drops, gets the rail and has speed to control it.

Race 8: (3) For The Ladies N returns from The Meadowlands where she chased sub 1:51 miles in last two after some good efforts here against tougher. Finds a good spot to set up her brush and I’ll use her as a single here.

Race 9: (3) Dojea Solo continues to race in sharp form without winning. Gets a better post to showcase her early speed and is capable of taking them down the pike. (7) P L Hellcat was first up and understandably tired in sparkling 1:51.2 mile. Draws outside in first start for a tag and figures to be charging late.

Race 10:(3) Union Man Hanover and (4) Sea Star both had pace on both ends of swift miles last time and both figure to be in the forefront of the action here. (2) Ari Allstar gets first decent post in a long while, will likely be stalking the top pair and looks to have the best shot at an upset.

Race 11:(5) Stormont Park had strong trot finishing last time after a tough trip trying to close off slow early pace two back. Moves back into Harmon barn and looks set for big mile. (8) Skates N Plates has taken last two at this level, the latest in powerful wire to wire fashion. Post appears only knock.
