‘Catskill’ Steve Terjanian offers his picks for the $20,000 Pick-4 at Yonkers Raceway on Oct. 8, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-4, Races 7-10, Monday, October 8, 2012

Tonight starts week 13 of my Yonkers Strategic Wagering Program. To date I am 6 for 24 in Pick 4’s hit and still in the BLACK for $245.50.

$1 play: 37/468/46/12 = $24

Analysis:

Race 7: (3) Delco Rocknroll left and was parked past :27.4 quarter, sat the pocket through fast pace, finished with :28.3 kicker in solid placing. Youngster is beginning to show some of the ability he flashed in Chicago earlier in the year and can only continue to get better for Coleman. (7) Glass Prince held off top one in late stages of quick mile. Gives up position edge here but moves into 41% barn and can leave the gate.

Race 8: (8) Friskie Flicker had a big year on the Ohio Fair Circuit before shipping to Yonkers where she blew out lesser in a career best 1:54.1 mile in local debut and first start for barn that does well with it’s acquisitions. Steps up, draws 8-hole and can continue to move forward. (6) Dragon’s Jojo was over matched at The Meadows last time after a brush and crush score against lesser in lone Yonkers try two back. Loses Brennan to the top pick but figures to be riding live cover and has a shot at a likely price. (4) Swash Hanover has yet to win at this level going 0 for 4 but has missed by less than a length in last three including her latest when she gamely rallied to just fall short after being bothered past the start.

Race 9: (6) Ideal Romance has battled tougher colts on the NYSS circuit much of the year and comes off a solid effort in Fall Harvest event last time holding show despite a tough uncovered grind through :55.4 final half. (4) Spinarama has paced some fast miles north of the border including his latest, a wire to wire score in 1:52.2 over Georgian Downs 5/8’s oval. Ships in to Yonkers under Marino’s care and is likely to go big mile from this spot.

Race 10: Both the (1) Mcstraight and the (2) Electric Lad lack much recent experience around four turns, but both have been facing tougher, the former in Pennsylvania and Ohio while the latter has been banging heads and showing speed on the tough Indiana Circuit. Either can wrap up tonight’s Pick 4.

Good Luck!
