Catskill Steve offers his picks for the $25,000 Pick-4 at Balmoral Park on September 14 part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Balmoral Park Pick-4, Races 7-10, Sunday, September 14, 2014

$1 play: 135/359/78/5= $18

Analysis:

Race 7: (5) Seeyouatthefinish was victimized by slow early pace last time and lacked a rally as pace picked up. Two back took a lifetime mark with game uncovered win against weaker. Gets Casey back, who drove her to that victory and gets the nod although she will likely need best to beat this competitive group. (1) Ritascape steps up and gets the rail off powerful wiretowire score from post 10. (3) Love This Place has been racing in sharp form since returning to Balmoral. Mare has plenty of back class and must be considered.

Race 8: Wide open event in Leg 2. (5) Surclasser tried to flush cover but was unable to do so and wound up on long uncovered grind, trotted a :57.1 final half to miss by a length. (9) Lady Laker was racing in sharp form against Preferred Company at Hoosier before being sent to Mohawk where she was overmatched against Grand Circuit mares. Has taken three months off and now returns to take on the boys off a solid qualifier. (3) Celebrity Hercules finished evenly in race he likely needed following an unsuccessful try against Invitational company at Hoosier last month. The classy 8-year-old has a fondness for this strip and should be tougher this week.

Race 9: (7) Sea Watcher didn’t begin his career until this year at age five and now seems to be getting better with every race. Just failed to hold on last time despite pacing :28.2 final panel after making a sharp :56.1 middlehalf brush to the top. (8) Get The Terror returns off three days’ rest after an even try against a slightly better group on Wednesday. The 3-year-old filly beat the top one two back with an ultra-game mile, used a couple of times and still able to prevail.

Race 10: (5) Native Lights, the sharp 4-year-old rallied boldly from tough spot to fall a neck short of wakeup winner. Has taken to the Midwest in a big way, gets a better spot and should retain sharpness in finale.

Good Luck!
