by ‘Catskill’ Steve Terjanian

‘Catskill’ Steve Terjanian offers his picks for the $20,000 Pick-4 at Yonkers Raceway on Sept. 3, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Yonkers Raceway Pick-4, Races 7-10, Monday, Sept. 3, 2012

We move into September and I move into my third month of the Strategic Wagering Program (eighth week). Stats are four out of 14 Pick-4 hits with a profit of $247.00.

$1 play: 146/46/37/23 = $24

Analysis:

Race 7: (1) Rockturnal has shown some ability in a handful of starts (although not over a half-mile); makes second start for strong connections off a game 1:55 pocket win at Tioga. (4) Sir Sync Z Tam was uncovered a long way in second try for good barn, pushed a :28.1 third quarter before unfortunately being impeded, recovered and paced well to the wire. (6) Aint Got A Home is another lacking small track experience, ships in off a solid front end score at Pocono and gets Brennan.

Race 8: (4) Lislea Miles has been sharp at this level and, with lack of early speed from the others, may shake loose. (6) Froggy Turner has tons of back class, comes off two solid tries against tougher, drops and gets Brennan.

Race 9: (3) Ideal Ike finished powerfully to just miss two back then chased a wicked pace, finishing in :27.2 to miss by a length in latest. Finds good spot to track the speed and can get up. (7) Black Hat will likely be the last one to get the top and has been racing in sharp form.

Race 10: (2) Hrubys N Luck takes key drop for barn that’s been sizzling as of late and may be able to go down the road at this level. (3) Goddess’s Justin lacked a rally last time when hiked to this level off claim. Reunites with Brennan who has won two out of three in the bike behind him recently, both in sub 1:53 miles, and may be ready to handle this level.

Good luck!
