by “Catskill” Steve Terjanian

Catskill Steve offers his picks for the $25,000 Pick-4 at Balmoral Park on Sept. 6, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Last night I invested $27 and had two winners and two place finishers. Meet totals: 58 plays, ten winning Pick-4s, +$89.80

Balmoral Park Pick-4, Races 7-10, Sunday, Sept. 6, 2015

$1 play: 356/39/79/47 = $24

Analysis:

Race 7: (5) Best Man Hanover showed speed at Hoosier before tiring. Returns to Balmoral where he races best and takes sharp drop after facing some of the Midwest’s best pacers. (6) Company Man has raced well in both Balmoral starts at this level after facing tougher throughout the year prior to shipping in. (3) Endeavors King never fired last time after rallying with 1:22 final three-quarters to nail show against slightly better field two back; chance at a price.

Race 8: (9) Persuasive Look finished willing from post 10 last time but had too far to come. Prior were a series of sharp miles in filly stakes events. Draws another tough post but has shown the most of any of these and rates the nod prepping for next week. (3) Swiss Mocha is inching his way back into form after missing 11 months. Both starts have been good, including latest at Du Quoin where he rallied for place behind former Chicago Trotter of the Year King Mustafa. Finds a nice spot and appears to have a big shot.

Race 9: (7) Fox Valley Andy had little off a lame scratch two back then unleashed his usual late kick, finishing with a furious :54.4 final half rally to nail show. The 5-year-old figures to be riding live cover and can roll by at a price. (9) Sunset Dreamer is razor sharp and will likely be shadowing the pick around the track as he did last week to win second straight.

Race 10: (4) Jo Jo Spur has had a series of tough trips in recent and finished second in latest after getting rough at the wire chasing :27.3 final quarter. The 7-year-old doesn’t win often these days but looks capable of handling these with the right trip. (7) Richess Nestor has improved since joining new barn and comes off some strong closing tries at Maywood, the latest a third place finish in 1:53 mile, chasing winner who came back to repeat this past Thursday. Should like the switch to the mile track and the long stretch which will likely set up his late charge.

Good luck!
