Toronto, ON — Conway Maid completed the sweep of the Celias Counsel Trotting Series for 3-year-old fillies with an impressive, never-in-doubt victory in the $43,788 final on Monday night (April 23) at Woodbine.

Paul MacDonell drove the daughter of Conway Hall to the 2-1/4 length win in 1:59 for trainer Mike Keeling and owners Stake Your Claim Stable and P C Wellwood Enterprises Inc. Moment Of Zen was second, with Saranade K C third, beaten 4-3/4 lengths.

“She’s a pretty professional filly,” said MacDonell. “This series is custom made for horses like her. She’s learned all of her lessons very well.”

Conway Maid established command around the first turn and was never truly threatened, cutting splits of :59.2 and 1:28.4, after stalking an early :30 clip.

“It is encouraging to see the progress she’s made,” said Keeling. “She’s always had a bit of a temper, but now that she’s kind of focused, we’re over the hump.”

The $21,894 paycheck raised Conway Maid’s career earnings to $54,492.

She paid $2.40, $2.40, $2.10 and combined with Moment Of Zen ($3.00, $2.90) for a $6.00 exactor. Saranade K C paid $8.80 to show and rounded out the $47.60 triactor. Sportyportia wrapped up the $94.15 superfecta.
