Pompano Beach, FL — Dismissed at odds of 12-1 despite finishing second in last week’s top trotting event at Pompano Park, Cisco Hall rewarded his backers with a half length victory on Monday, Jan. 28, taking the featured $14,000 Open Handicap Trot in 1:57.

Cisco Hall won the $14,000 Open Handicap Trot on Monday in 1:57.

Driven from post two by George Napolitano, Jr., Cisco Hall settled comfortably in fourth place through the opening stages of Monday’s trot as race favorite Guy Gets Girl (Bruce Ranger) showed the way through fractions of :28.3, :58.4, and 1:27.4.

Guy Gets Girl entered the stretch with a half length advantage over pocket-sitting LF Sharp Score (Mark O’Mara), but neither had an answer for the late charge of Cisco Hall, who was angled off the pylons at the top of the lane and rolled down the center of the track to get up in the final yards and claim victory.

Cisco Hall returned $27.80, $8.00, and $3.60 for the win. LF Sharp Score paid $8.00 and $3.80 for second, while Guy Gets Girl brought in $2.40 for third.

Owned by Joe Chnapko and trained by Bill Gallagher, Cisco Hall has prevailed in two of his four starts this year, while finishing no worse than third in each of his last five appearances. The son of Conway Hall, out of the King Conch mare Crown Me Good, owns a career record of 12 wins from 41 outings with a lifetime bankroll of $219,989.
