Northfield, OH — Clear Vision broke the track record for 5-year-old-and-up pacing geldings, posting a 1:49.3 win on Saturday (July 19). The two length track record victory came in the 29th edition of Northfield Park’s $150,000 Battle of Lake Erie.

Clear Vision set a track record on Saturday night, winning the Battle of Lake Erie in 1:49.3 at Northfield Park.

Clear Vision (Western Hanover-Artistic Vision-Artsplace) is owned by the partnership of Burke Racing Stable of Fredericktown, Pennsylvania, Weaver Bruscemi of Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, The Panhellenic Stable of Oyster Bay, New York and James Koran of Macedonia, Ohio. He is trained by Ron Burke, who called upon Brett Miller to drive.

Clear Vision started from post four and immediately advanced a position when Bolt The Duer made an uncharacteristic break to his inside. He was sitting third at the :26.2 opening quarter. Miller pulled Clear Vision in the second panel and he remained first-over through times of :54.2 and 1:22. Clear Vision locked horns with pace setter Night Pro in the last turn and bested him by two lengths in the stretch, stopping the timer at 1:49.3.

“When Bolt The Duer made a break, it changed the whole race. His misfortune was my fortune,” said Brett Miller. “Believe it or not, he [Clear Vision] races best if he is first-over. When I got to be first-over I was loving it because this horse is so game and he can live on the outside.”

The win pushes Clear Vision’s earnings to $1,987,868. Following Clear Vision were Night Pro, Foiled Again, Fool Me Once, Apprentice Hanover, Twilight Bonfire, Beach Memories and Bolt The Duer.
