Campbellville, ON — With this year’s Jugette and Little Brown Jug this Wednesday and Thursday, Canadian trainer Casie Coleman is looking to deliver in both events.

Coleman has never won both prizes but she is hoping to change that this year with Kyle Major and Western Silk.

Kyle Major set his mark of 1:49.4 in the Simcoe Stakes on Sept. 11 at Mohawk.

Mark MacDonald is listed to drive both horses. He was victorious in 2006 when he guided Mr Feelgood to victory in the Little Brown Jug and he’s back this year looking to steal the show with Kyle Major and Western Silk.

Kyle Major, a 3-year-old son of Art Major, recently moved into the Casie Coleman barn and won the C$247,894 Simcoe Stakes at Mohawk Racetrack in 1:49.4 in his most recent outing.

Coleman has nothing but praise for the pupil with earnings of $374,143 to date.

“I think he’s (Kyle Major) coming into the race in perfect condition. He won his previous start and he has the rail. We are just hoping for some luck,” Coleman commented.

Kyle Major has been blessed with post one in his elimination with morning line odds of 7-2 for owner Robert Hamather.

Kyle Major has extreme gate speed which can be expected come Thursday afternoon as MacDonald will be looking to capture his second Little Brown Jug.

Casie Coleman’s other entry, Western Silk, is the 5-2 morning line favorite in her elimination of the Jugette. The 3-year-old daughter of Western Terror won the Fan Hanover Stakes final earlier this year at Mohawk Racetrack and is looking to capture the first Jugette victory for Coleman and Tom Hill.

“She set the track record earlier this year at Western Fair in 1:53.2. That was the middle of May and I feel that is equivalent to a 1:50 mile here at Delaware,” Coleman stated. “She has come into the race in perfect condition, there have been no issues with her at all. I expect a big performance.”

Western Silk has been issued post four in the second elimination of the Jugette.
