Ft. Washington, MD — Cool Flying Fun lived up to his name and flew to the wire, winning the featured $8,200 Winners Over Pace in 1:52 at Rosecroft on Saturday.

The five-year-old son of Bonnie And Clyde was assigned the outside post six, but the handicap failed to phase the pacer. Coming off the gate slowly and sitting fourth until the half-mile marker, driver Sean Bier got the speed he asked for. Cool Flying Fun angled out and picked off his competition one by one, coming home in :28.1 to cross the wire a half length ahead of Tarver Hanover (Jimmy Marohn, Jr.).

Cool Flying Fun faced the starter as the 7-5 favorite and returned a win price of $4.80. Owned and trained by Nick Callahan of Greenwood, Delaware, the horse has chalked up five wins and over $60,000 so far this year.

Tarver Hanover, driven to a close second by a new and welcome face at Rosecroft -– Jimmy Marohn, Jr. -– came home in an impressive final quarter of :27.4. Third across the wire, six lengths back, was No Wishes (Jonathan Roberts).

Rosecroft resumes racing Thursday at 7:20 p.m. with a full card that includes two competitive Winners Over features.
