Pompano Beach, Florida – April 8, 2004 – Chucaro Ahijuna, the world’s fastest Argentinean-bred racehorse, goes for a world record Friday at Pompano Park as he attempts to become the sports fastest double-gaited horse ever.

Chucaro Ahijuna starts from post five in the 7th race trot and needs only to win in 1:57.4 or faster to erase the world combined mark of 3:49.4 set by Noble Gill in 2002. As a pacer, Chucaro Ahijuna has a record of 1:51.4 taken at Pompano Park. Last week Chucaro Ahijuna won a qualifying race on the trot in 1:58.3 for a combined time of 3:50.3.

The seven-year-old stallion is trained by Paul Bernardo and is owned by the Berry Creek Stable of Staten Island, New York. He will be driven by Bruce Ranger and is the 5/2 morning line favorite.

Back on January 26 at Pompano Park, Remember Kate set the world record for double-gaited mares with a combined time of 3:50.4.
