Pompano Beach, FL — Australian import Son Of Flair A ($3.40, $2.40, $2.10) cruised to his third straight victory to remain unbeaten since coming to the United States, capturing the first race $7,200 Open III Trot on Wednesday at Pompano Park Harness Track.

Driven by Mickey McNichol, Son Of Flair A went to the lead after the opening quarter mile, taking control of the race away from B Cor Super Tom (Kevin Wallis) in :28.

After the half mile mark in :574, Ebbalutionary (Michael MacDonald) mounted a first-over challenge and was nearly neck and neck with Son Of Flair A at the three-quarters in 1:27.

Son Of Flair A remained unbeaten in the United States with a victory on Wednesday at Pompano Park.

But all McNichol did at that point was raise the lines and Son Of Flair A started to draw off to win by two open lengths in a lifetime best time for a one mile race of 1:561 for owner/trainer Dave Mogan of Coconut Creek, Florida. Ebbalutionary was second with B Cor Super Tom third.

An eight-year-old gelding by Red Coach, Son Of Flair A came to the United States from Australia in November and has been nominated by Mogan to compete in the upcoming $125,000 Mack Lobell Trotting Series in February at Pompano Park.

Son Of Flair A is now tied with Brookview Treasure and Chill It as the winningest trotters in North America this year, each with three wins.

Damon Runyon ($5.60) returned to his winning ways, scoring a neck victory in the 11th race $11,500 Open Handicap Trot in 1:551 for driver David Ingraham.

Out trotting Ultimate Sundance (Bruce Ranger) to the opening quarter mile in :281, Damon Runyon led the rest of the mile race, leading to the half in :574 and the three-quarters in 1:261 despite a first-over challenge from Town Meister (Tom Sells).

As they came down the stretch, Ultimate Sundance moved out of the pocket and nearly caught Damon Runyon. Trappers Salute A (George Napolitano, Jr.), despite a valiant three-wide move on the final turn, was third in the photo.

It was the third win in the last four starts for Damon Runyon, a seven-year-old gelding by Cumin, who is trained by Lawrence Nichols and owned by Carol Karter of Lake Worth, Florida.

George Napolitano, Jr. continued to have the hot hands among all drivers Wednesday, scoring four victories on the night.

In the eighth race $6,300 trot, B V Butch showed tons of back class as the 14-year-old gelding by Jurgy Hanover led the field, dug in hard in the stretch and won by a half length in a lifetime best 1:572. The $554,000 career winner was driven by Mickey McNichol and is trained by Philip Peavyhouse and owned by the Peavyhouse Stable of South Lyon, Michigan.
