Monticello, NY — The draw for post positions for Monticello Raceway’s Au Revoir, the race exclusively for 14-year-olds, will be on Wednesday, Dec. 26.

“Since we have been racing a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday schedule the racing programs for Mondays have been drawn five days in advance,” noted Eric Warner, the track’s Director of Racing. “Post positions for our specialty race, the Au Revoir, scheduled to be raced on New Year’s Eve Day, will be drawn this Wednesday, December 26, and the entry box for that, and all that day’s races, will close at 9:00 a.m.

“Though we have had many inquiries from trainers concerning our Au Revoir, we really don’t know if the race will fill until we open the entry box on Wednesday.”

Monticello Raceway will have a better chance of presenting the race for 14-year-olds this year because — thanks to the New York State Racing and Wagering Board — both pacers and trotters are eligible for the event.

According to Warner, an estimated purse of $5,000 is in the offing for the Au Revoir.
