Dream Maker Series gets underway on Monday

Campbellville, ON — Two-year-old pacers continue their education this summer in the Dream Maker Series, which launches on Monday night (July 20) at Mohawk Racetrack.

Two C$20,000 divisions will be going postward at the beginning of the card, each with eight freshman colts eager to show their stuff.

Based on their limited racing experience so far, Carl Jamieson’s paired entry of Rockthenightaway and Rafferty Hanover have achieved 5-2 status in the first division (race one, post time 7:20 p.m.). Rafferty Hanover, a son of Western Ideal, put himself in the winner’s circle in his first career start, in the Bud Light series at Flamboro, July 5, while Rockthenightaway, from the first crop of Rocknroll Hanover, came unglued in his first career start, on June 28 at Mohawk, but has been impressive in his qualifying efforts and better prepared this time out. Jody Jamieson will guide Rafferty Hanover from post position seven, and Rick Zeron has been tapped to drive Rockthenightaway from post one.

Also worth watching in this race is Dr. Ian Moore’s Malicious, a son of Bettor’s Delight who scored his first pari-mutuel victory at the Charlottetown Driving Park, then made the transition to the big oval at Mohawk and found the winner’s circle again on July 13. Paul MacDonell will pilot the two-time winner from post four; they’ve been rated at 9-5.

In the second Dream Maker split (race three, post time 8:02 p.m.), keep your eyes on the whimsically named Whackamole Hanover. The unraced son of Cam’s Card Shark, sent out by Tim Pinske, has been sharp in both his qualifying efforts at Mohawk and is rated at 9-5.

Carl Jamieson has two entries in this division as well: Shopping Desire, by Real Desire, and Art I Special, a gelded son of Artsplace. Both have a single pari-mutuel start under their belts and finished in the money, but have yet to break their maidens. Shopping Desire leaves from post two with Keith Oliver in the bike, while Art I Special has drawn post five and will be guilded by Rick Zeron. Together, the entry is rated at 3-1.

The second leg of the Dream Maker series is scheduled for Monday, July 27, with the C$55,000 (est.) final slated for August 3 at Mohawk.
