DSBF splits contested at Harrington

Harrington, DE — Three divisions of the second leg of the DSBF stakes for two-year-old pacing fillies were contested on Tuesday at Harrington Raceway over a “sloppy” track.

Willliam Camp, Jr. and John Sumner’s Drivin Miss Rudee (Eddie Davis, 2:01) set all the fractions and utilized an early miscue from heavy favorite Hickory Cecilia to her advantage with a win in the first split. The 2-5 favored “Cecilia” won her division last week, but broke stride while pulling second over towards the half-mile.

Helen Looney and Joann Looney-King’s Badlandsue And Me (Jim King, Jr., 2:02) won the second division, stalking pacesetter Buckleup Baby throughout the mile before taking the lead in deep stretch.

Ronald Mario’s Born Storyteller (Jon Roberts) completed a sweep of the elims with a 2:01.2 triumph in the final division.

The $100,000 Final will be part of a showcase night for Delaware-breds on October 27.

In the sub-featured $15,000 Filly and Mare Open Pace, Jeffrey and James Wilson Clark’s Rondel Franco N (Hal Belote, 1:57) won for the second straight start over Cams Little Imp N and Crossfire N.

Racing continues Wednesday with post time at 5:30 p.m.
