Wilkes-Barre, PA — M.H. Eby, Inc., a leader in the manufacture of Standardbred racehorse trailers, has again set the industry standard when they delivered a new, state-of-the-art ambulance this week to Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

The addition of a gradually inclined side ramp in the new ambulance eliminates the need to back out horses.

According to Darryl Breniser, Vice President at Eby, the ambulance is, perhaps, the most modern, functional and well equipped as any in use at Standardbred facilities in the country. Notable design features include:

1. An easily adjusted divider that allows ambulatory horses to be supported comfortably in a wide range of secured positions while moving from the track to the paddock for veterinary care.

2. A special low incline entry ramp for easy loading, plus a side ramp that allows horses to be walked out rather than backed out, minimizing additional injury and stress.

3. Electronic climate control with thermostatically monitored ventilation and cooling for added comfort for horses while they are being transported.

Dale Rapson, Vice President of Racing Operations for Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs, said, “This new ambulance elevates the standard for veterinary care in terms of emergency equine transportation.

“We now have a state-of-the-art ambulance to match the state-of-the-art $6.2 million paddock we unveiled last week.”

“At Eby, we love pushing the envelope in terms of design and engineering”, said Mr. Breniser. “We’d like to thank Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs for being progressive and allowing us the opportunity to engineer a vehicle that we believe will become the benchmark within the industry.”
