Dover, DE — Nick Callahan and Parker Callahan’s Elvis Cole captured the $26,000 Open Trot at Dover Downs on Wednesday, November 14.

Elvis Cole made it two straight wins, stepping up to the Open ranks after taking the Jr. Open last week, scoring a 1:55.2 triumph in the week’s top trot. Corey Callahan had to use the Lindy Lane gelding hard twice to take the lead for good heading to the clubhouse turn and then continued on for his eighth win of the season. Master Pine came from far back for Tim Tetrick to grab the place money, with Valley Sport and Tony Morgan third.

Elvis Cole is now a winner of $119,925 this year. The victory was one of three for driver Corey Callahan.

The sub-featured $23,000 Jr. Open Trot was as easy as 1-2-3. A 9-1 shot, Sugar Valley Alley, owned, trained and driven by Carlo Poliseno, got his chance when Oneforthemaster and Tony Morgan pulled out of second to engage front trotting Grand Photo, driven by Bob Shahan, who cut out all but the finals strides in a 1:55.4 mile. Sugar Valley Allen rolled down the passing lane to catch the leaders in deep stretch and scored a half-length win, his seventh of the season.

Tony Morgan, with three wins, took over first place in the early season driver standings with Tim Tetrick, who had two winners on Wednesday, second. Mike Cole also had a double.
