Enflammatory holds on to win $150,000 NJSS

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – June 24, 2004 – Enflammatory [$18.00, $9.00, $6.00] held off the challenge of Al Dente Hanover [$9.00, $6.20] to win the $150,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes for three-year-old trotting colts, the sixth race on Thursday night at the Meadowlands.

Enflammatory, driven by Brian Sears and trained by Trond Smedshammer, tipped first over at the half, cleared to the lead at the three-quarters and held on for a nose victory over Al Dente Hanover in 1:54.1. Real Leader [$12.20] was third by three and a half lengths.

Unraced at two, Enflammatory, a son of Enjoy Lavec, has two wins, two seconds and three thirds in seven starts this year for earnings of $101,150 for the ownership of the American Viking Racing Stable of Allentown, New Jersey; Patricia Spinelli of Oyster Bay Cove, New York; Martha Frank of Fair Lawn, New Jersey and Ted Gewertz of New York, New York.

Housethatruthbuilt, driven by Sears, trained by Smedshammer and owned by Spinelli and Gewertz, won the New Jersey Sire Stakes Final for three-year-old trotting fillies on Wednesday night.
