Lexington, KY — Falls For You made a break and was eliminated in last week’s Moni Maker elimination, but due to a strategic scratch she entered the $178,000 final and pulled off the 1:53.4 win on Sunday night, September 16, at The Red Mile.

Falls For You wins the $178,000 Moni Maker final with Brian Sears aboard.

Trond Smedshammer, trainer of Falls For You, scratched fellow trainee Flight Surgeon from the final so Falls For You could enter.

Falls For You, a 3-year-old filly by Yankee Glide, made up for last week’s miscue by winning with a late rush with Brian Sears aboard. Flash Lightning and Dan Shetler finished second, lighting up the toteboard at 28-1. Elimination winner Gerri’s Joy and Bruce Ranger were third.

Falls For You set a lifetime mark in this her fourth win in 10 starts in 2007. She has now earned $236,992 this year for co-owners Atlantic Trot Inc., Fair Winds Farm Inc., Ted Gewertz and Willow Pond LLC.

Freshman filly trotters and pacers headed to post in seven John Simpson Memorial divisions.

Trainer Ron Gurfein sent out two Simpson winners. Bella Verde won a $12,800 division for trotters in 1:56 with Mike Lachance aboard. Bella Verde, by Broadway Hall, is owned by Ira Kristel.

Valbruna grabbed her division for Gurfein and Lachance in 1:57.4. This Conway Hall filly is owned by Perretti Racing Stable and Black Horse Racing.
