Fancy Filly won by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:51.1, a track and world record for 2-year-old pacing fillies on a five-eighths mile track.

Theodore Gewertz, George Teague, Jr., and Only Money, Inc.’s Fancy Filly ($3.40) was no disappointment to the punters in the $500,000 Three Diamonds, sitting off leaders Western Moonlight (David Miller) and A and Gs Princess (Yannick Gingras) through a :27.2 first quarter before brushing to the front and clearing just after reaching the half in :55.2. Up the backstretch, Fancy Filly was pushed on by the first-over Casino Nights (Tim Tetrick), and these two pulled away on the far turn after a :27.3 third quarter. In front by just three parts of a length at head-stretch, Fancy Filly dug in nicely to the pressure of Casino Nights, drawing away under moderate Brian Sears urging to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:51.1, a track and world record for 2-year-old pacing fillies on a five-eighths mile track. Casino Nights was a driving second, and Full Picture (Richie Silverman) rallied to take third.

“It worked out well,” commented winning trainer George Teague, Jr. “She found a good spot, but she had to work to get the front. On the last turn I thought she was in great shape. At that point, training down, she’s always got a little more to give, and she proved that again today.”

The $600,000 Governor’s Cup looked to be a match-up between Rock N Roll Heaven and Malicious, but One More Laugh ($7.00) got the last laugh, up to win by a length over Rock N Roll Heaven (Daniel Dube) after wearing down Malicious (David Miller) on the far turn in a track and world record 1:49.2. The gelded son of McArdle raced from mid-field before beginning his first-over pursuit with one lap to go, working his way up to second with five-sixteenths to go and pressing One More Laugh through a :26.4 third quarter, reaching that juncture in 1:22.3. On the far turn, One More Laugh took over and never looked back, posting an individually-timed :53 back half en route to the world record performance.

Tim Tetrick drove One More Laugh for owners Mathias Meinzinger and Jerry Silva. Trainer Ray Schnittker co-owns.
