Timberton (on the inside) holds off Srixon in 1:49.4, the fastest clocking ever by a 10-year-old pacer.

That clocking was the fastest ever for a 10-year-old pacer, breaking the old mark of 1:50 set by Yulestar N on July 10, 2004 at Woodbine Racetrack.

Trained by John Saner, Timberton was driven to his record setting victory by Ron Marsh. He edged Srixon by a head in the mile.

Timberton is a gelded son of Artsplace, out of the Jate Lobell mare Impress. The victory was his ninth in 25 starts this year, increasing his 2005 earnings to $70,862. A winner in 42 of his 225 lifetime starts, Timberton has banked $254,616 in his career.

He will be looking to improve on his mark when he tackles a field of eight in Balmoral’s $21,500 Free For All Pace this coming Saturday (September 3).
