Filly finishes fast in Scioto feature

by Dean A. Hoffman, for Scioto Downs

Columbus, OH — Swing Anna Chip, a daughter of Hambletonian winner Chip Chip Hooray, circled her rivals in the far turn to win the Thursday night (June 26) feature at Scioto Downs. Her winning time was 1:59.1.

Driver David Myers let the filly dawdle at the back of the pack through a fast front half in :57.3, but when the pace began to tell on the leaders, Myers moved his filly three-wide with a strong brush and she cruised to a 3-1/2 length victory. Hope’s Cavecricket came from well back to grab second money while pacesetting Friday Nite Dinky, a 44-1 shot in the betting, held on for third.

Sent off by bettors as the 2-1 favorite, Swing Anna Chip paid $5.00 to win.

It was the first win of the season in five tries for Swing Anna Chip, who is owned by Lmn Brd Stables. She is trained by Michell Nault who operates Lmn Bred with Laura Nault.

Last year Swing Anna Chip compiled an 8-5-4 slate in 20 starts and banked $24,733. She is the second foal of the Striking Sahbra mare Swing Anna Miss 2,2:00.1h ($133,729).
