Final Scorpion stings Open trotters at Northfield

by Keith Gisser, director of publicity, Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Duane Miller’s rehab project Final Scorpion is all the way back. The former Ohio Sires Stakes star posted a 1:59.3 win to stun the public in the $7,000 Open Trot at Northfield on Monday, September 17, returning $49.80 to his backers. Matt Kakaley was in the bike. Lucca’s Revenge was second and R Cowboy got show money.

After earning over $63,000 as a 2-year-old, the son of Armrbo Scorpion raced just eight times from ages 3 to 5, missing all of 2005 and racing just once last year. In 2007, he has won half of his 14 starts.

Kakaley and Dan Charlino each had three winning drives on the card.
