Sacramento, CA — Cal-Expo and the California Harness Horsemen’s Association have agreed to implement another purse increase effective June 11, 2009 to August 1, 2009.

“This increase is due to the great participation of all horsemen by entering and racing their horses, for which we sincerely appreciate their hard work and efforts,” said Dave Elliott, Assistant General Manager & Director of Racing. “To date, we’re happy to report the purse pool underpayment is approximately $55,000.”

Schedule change announced for July

Cal-Expo has received permission from the California Horse Racing Board (CHRB) for a racing schedule change for July.

The schedule change approved is as follows:

Wednesday, July 1, 2009 — cancel
Saturday, July 4, 2009 — add to calendar

The approximate first race post time for July 4 is 5:00 p.m. (PDT). Cal-Expo will race approximately nine races with a last race post time of 7:40 p.m.

This calendar change solidifies the weekly racing schedule until August 1, 2009, on a Thursday through Saturday basis.
