Toronto, ON — Another visit or two to the winner’s circle would be just the right touch of Christmas cheer for a lass named Found An Angel, who will round out her career in the upcoming Autumn Series for 3-year-old trotting fillies at Woodbine.

Found An Angel has banked $46,277 in 19 starts this year.

Found An Angel, by the Balanced Image stallion Duke Of York, out of Lou Macs Glory, is a three-quarter sister to double millionaire Glorys Comet, and given that her racing career hasn’t panned out to match her famous sibling, she is scheduled to head to the breeding shed at the completion of the series.

“She has a date with Chocolatier, if I’m not mistaken,” says trainer John Bax.

But first, she has a date with a starting gate on Thursday night, Dec. 10, in the first of two C$25,000 eliminations for the Ontario-sired Autumn series. She has been rated the 2-1 morning line favorite, on the strength of a win and three seconds in her last four efforts.

“She was a bit of a late bloomer; she didn’t race at two,” acknowledges Bax. “She’s had a few issues, and she’s still the only horse in my barn who wears trotting hopples. She has always had the ability, but she would pick inopportune times to self-destruct.

“She’s almost too competitive. Balanced Images have lots of desire, but it’s an issue of controlling it. She’s her own worst enemy, really.

“She has been really coming into herself the last few starts though, and since she was eligible to this series we figured we would see how she does. The speed is certainly there.”

With a favorable post position and short fields in both eliminations (races one and two on the Thursday night card, post times 7:30 p.m. and 7:49 p.m.), Found An Angel seems to have found herself a golden opportunity to advance to the December 17 Autumn Series final but only she and driver Paul MacDonell know whether she can keep her competitive streak focused on the winner’s circle.
