Four Starz Delivery nipped My Good Sam in the Open Pace.

Leaving from post three in the field of seven, Four Starz Delivery and Holliday got a perfect garden spot trip from the two hole while the favorite in the race, Seano and driver Jerry Nugent, Jr., set all the fractions, :28.3, :58, and 1:27.3. A :29.3 last quarter by Four Starz Delivery was all that was needed to beat second place finishers My Good Sam and reinsman Ron Beback, Jr. by three-quarters of a length. Last week’s Open winner Liebeck and driver Jim McNeight came in third.

“He’s just a good horse,” said Holliday. “He’s very easy to drive.”

The $5,000 share of the winning purse put Four Starz Delivery’s season bankroll at $22,409 and $123,554 lifetime. He paid $12.20 to his lucky backers. Sherri Holliday (Ken’s wife) is the trainer.

In the sixth race $8,500 co-feature, Falcor N and reinsman Ken Holliday made every pole a winning one as the 9-year-old Falcon Seelster gelding won in 1:59.1 for owner Betty Tauber. It was the fourth win of the year for Falcor N, who has done most of his campaigning on the Monticello circuit this year.

Leaving from post two in the field of six, Falcor N and Holliday quickly took control of the race, hitting the quarter-mile pole in an uncontested :29.4 and the half-mile beam in 1:00. It was pedal to the metal from there as they hit the three-quarter mark in 1:29.3. At the finish line, Falcor N and Holliday were 1-1/4 lengths ahead of second place finishers Kilkerran Union and driver Jim Morrill, Jr. Red Bullet (Ron Beback, Jr.) came in the show spot.

The $4,250 share of the winning purse put Falcor N’s season bankroll at $25,895 and $211,000 lifetime. He paid $6.60 to win as the second choice in the betting. Sherri Holliday is the trainer.
