EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – February 26, 2005 – Francam, Live Out Loud and Jenna’s Choice each captured their respective Winter Series on Saturday night at the Meadowlands.

Francam [$8.00, $3.80, $2.60] got up in the final strides to win the $71,000 Exit 16W Final, the third race, in a stakes record 1:50.2.

The four-year-old gelded son of Cambest completed a sweep of the three-week series, finishing a neck ahead of Shattered Halo [$5.00, $4.00]. It was three-quarters of a length to Master This [$3.40] in third.

“It was easy,” said Ron Pierce, who guided Francam to his fifth win in seven starts this year. “I popped the earplugs behind the gate, and he took me out of there. He’s a little more relaxed now. He’s a game little fella; he gives you what he has. He seems like he’s fairly sound and has a lot of speed. He should be able to keep going on to the next level.”

The victory pushed Francam’s career earnings to $123,448 for his owner-breeder Stephen J. Farrell of Ocala, Florida.

The clocking for the mile fell short of Francam’s 1:49.1 but eclipsed the previous stakes record of 1:51 set by Fly Like An Eagle in 2000.

“I thought my horse did real well,” said John Bown, the trainer of Francam. “He got a great drive. Next for him is the Four Leaf Clover [which starts on March 12 at the Meadowlands]. Right now, we’re taking it race by race. He’s a top contender.”

Patrick Lachance guided Live Out Loud [$7.00, $4.40, $2.80] to a half-length victory in the $78,250 Aquarius Final for four-year-old pacers, the fifth race. The son of Art’s Conquest equaled the stakes record of 1:50.2 set by Die Lute in 2000.

It was Live Out Loud’s third straight win, all in legs of the Aquarius.

“I didn’t know the horse at all [when he arrived earlier in the month],” said Lachance, who is the trainer and driver. “The rumor was he was no good on the big track; he’s shown different. He likes to be covered up and fires off cover pretty good. I tried to get a good trip and not use him too hard leaving. Dave McCaffrey [co-owner and trainer of the gelding in Chicago] deserves the credit. He got him ready and sent him here ready to go.”

Driven To Win [$8.60, $4.80] was second best and Skydancer Hanover [$3.00] finished two lengths back in third.

Live Out Loud now has three wins, a second and a third from six starts this year. The winner’s share pushed his career earnings to $318,564 for the partnership of Dave McCaffrey of Burr Ridge, Illinois, and Bill Matz’s M&M Harness Racing LLC of Suffern, New York.

Jenna’s Choice [$15.40, $7.20, $5.80] held off the challenge of JJ’s Gazette [$6.80, $5.20] to win the $95,000 Junior Trendsetter for three-year-olds, the seventh race, by a nose in 1:52, a stakes record performance.

Mega Hall [$7.80] was third by three and a half lengths.

Jenna’s Choice, driven by Brian Sears and trained by Mark Silva, knocked a second off the previous stakes record of 1:53 set by Four Starzzz King in 2004.

Jenna’s Choice led at every call to post his second win in seven starts this year. The gelded son of Jenna’s Beach Boy has now banked

“He got his head into the race, and he never really relaxed,” said Sears. “He was racing hard the whole mile.”

“He’s not very mature,” noted Silva. “He’s still learning. He put it all together tonight. But he just likes to play. Our plan tonight was to just get him around the first turn pacing. After that he’s usually okay. He’s got the Matt’s Scooter Series next [starting on March 11].”

Jenna’s Choice races for Silva of Little Ferry, New Jersey; Cliff Pattick of Montvale, New Jersey and Daniel Borgo of Randolph, New Jersey.
