Freshman fillies contest Sire Stakes at Northfield

Columbus, OH — Northfield Park hosted five divisions of Ohio Sires Stakes on Friday night (July 3) with three $16,700 divisions for 2-year-old filly pacers and a pair of $22,300 splits for freshman filly trotters.

Virgil Morgan Jr. Stables’ Rub Thing (On The Attack-Steph Cress) won the first division for the pacers in 1:57. Chris Page was in the bike as Rub Thing won by 3-1/2 lengths over Lullaby Til Dawn, with Forever Lucky third.

The second division for the filly pacers was captured by Hawk’s Cry Electra (Dan Noble) in 1:57.2. The Mantacular-More Sugar Added miss scored by 1-1/4 lengths over Up Front Cruiser, with Stormy Kalfas third. The winner is owned by Hawk’s Cry Farm, Zachary King, Brian Dalton and James Davis.

The final split for the pacers went to Joshua Cochran and John Montgomery’s Caribean Cruise in 1:56. the fastest of the three divisions. Keith Kash, Jr. piloted the Yankee Cruiser-Tre’s Hippie Tup lass to an easy seven length score over Forever A Cowgirl, with Shez Good Osborne third.

In the first division for the trotting fillies, Chester Corbitt’s Rose Run Leah (Trainforthefuture-Bounty Hanover) was a wire-to-wire winner for trainer/driver Justin Hall in 2:05.1. She held off Hiny B Hurtin by three-quarters of a length, with Count N Caloris third.

The other split for the filly trotters went to Daryl Sherman’s Jesse’s Messenger in 2:01.2. Ryan Stahl piloted the Jailhouse Jesse-Laser Message miss to a 9-1/4 length romp over Susie’s Return. Miss Ohio Spur was third.
