Gabby Glide lowered the Pocono track record for 4-year-old trotting geldings to 1:54.

The 4-year-old gelding, who won honors at Pocono last year as 3-year-old of the year for a season in which he went from maiden to Open Handicap winner, came back from stints at The Meadowlands and Harrah’s Chester to win an Open Handicap Trot in 1:54, setting a new track record for his age group. The previous mark for 4-year-old trotting geldings of 1:54.2 was set by Near The Limit last year and matched last month by BJ’s Chinook.

Gabby Glide was assigned the outside post in a field of nine. He found good position on the rail early in fifth before beginning his move before the half-mile mark, second-over on the outside. As he straightened out on the backstretch, he moved three-wide to take on the leader Scorpion Moon. The son of Yankee Glide drew even at the top of the lane and zipped by late under gentle urging from driver Tim Tetrick. Scorpion Moon finished second with Tom’s OK Lady ending up third.

Gabby Glide, the 4-5 favorite, won for the seventh time in 12 races this year and 16th time in 24 lifetime races. The winner’s share of the $20,000 purse put him over $100,000 for the 2007 season. Steve Cook is the trainer for Pine Tree Partners of New Holland, Pa.

Also on Tuesday at Pocono, there were two divisions of the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes held for 3-year-old fillies on the pace. The winners were Catch The Show, trained by Jim Campbell and driven by Tetrick, in 1:52.4, and Captiva Island, trained by Tim Crissman and driven by Tony Morgan, in 1:52.1.
