Gisser’s Picks: July 15 National Pick-4

by Keith Gisser

Keith Gisser offers his picks for the National “Back to the Track” Pick-4 on Friday, July 15, part of the USTA Strategic Wagering program.

$1 play: 5810/1257/57/56 = $48

Analysis:

Meadowlands Race 8 — Leg 1: A tough race with a lot of question marks. My top pick is (10) Don’t Know Chip who shows consistent quality closes. (5) In Focus gets trotting hopples and easily won a qualifier with the straps. An unknown quantity who could improve. And (8) A Gentleman gets the first time David Miller angle and adds value. That worked last year, anyhow.

Northfield Race 8 — Leg 2: A wide open affair, but (2) Mindy Love Brown is sharp and could win despite the move up. (1) Getherdone Sue is a Jeckyll and Hyde type who wins for fun if she duplicates her June 3 race, but hasn’t been able to lately. (5) Sarastar moves into a super-sharp barn and can’t be ignored and (7) Saratoga’s Best always gives effort, but the post hurts her.

Yonkers Race 9 — Leg 3: I just don’t see any inside horses contending, while the two assigned outside may not be able to handle that punishment. Let’s go with (5) T Js Mr Lavec who only lost last week because he was assigned post eight. (7) Looking Hanover won from the same post last week, so he factors in, too.

Maywood Park Race 6 — Leg 4: Maywood is a speed-crazy track, but the inside horses show little of late. (6) Notjustaprettyface moved to the half-mile oval last time and got roughed up, but can race from behind and should be solid. (5) Allamerican Virgin gets results with Carpenter driving and has some tactical speed. He could trip out.
