Dover, DE — Go Flyin N closed strongly to notch a 1:53.4 victory in the $21,000 Mares Jr. Open Pace on Tuesday, April 12 at Dover Downs.

Meet leading driver Brad Hanners moved a step closer to the all-time one season dash win title at the track, guiding Les Walls and Jack Upchurch’s Go Flyin N to her third win of the year. Hanners later added another winner for a driving double.

Go Flyin N holds off Jenny’s Picnic in the Dover feature.

The consistent Sands A Flyin six-year-old overtook front pacing Roses Best, with Toby Lynch driving, and the Roger Hammer driven contender RN Artist, battling on the front end, streaking from seventh on the outside to get the lead on the last turn and then held off a determined bid from Jenny’s Picnic and Steve Warrington in deep stretch for the victory.

The Wayne Whitson trainee has been in the money in seven of 13 starts, earning $35,195 this season.

Hanners now needs nine more wins to equal the track record of 247 set by Luc Ouellette in the 1998-99 season.

In the $17,500 Mares Winners Over Pace, Ross Wolfenden moved Rodney Long’s late closing speedster Mapua Magic N earlier than usual and the Holmes Hanover import powered home a 1:53.2 winner. Bluebird Wanda (Hal Belote) chased her down the lane to finish second with Seasin (Roger Plante) third.

Scootinannirevonah, owned by Janelle Winer and trainer Don Harmon, used the passing lane effectively to edge Western Fate (Toby Lynch) and Love And Lust N (Steve Warrington) at the wire for a 1:55.1 score in a $20,000-$25,000 mares claiming allowance pace.

Eddie Davis, Jr. drove Bob Stevenson’s CR Regent Warrior to a 2:00.3 win in the $9,500 Delaware trot. Little Irish (Sam Belote) was runner-up. Limoge (Jim Morand) took third.

Youthful Givens returned later to steer Indigo Star N, an eight-year-old mare he owns with Donna Messick, to a 1:56.3 win in a $10,000 Delaware filly and mare claiming pace.
