GOSHEN, N.Y.–The 2004 racing season at Historic Track concluded on Monday, July 5, with New York County Fair events. There were 13 races on the afternoon card and a trio of local owners won the featured 3-year-old trot.Three Good Fellows, a gelded son of Majestic Victory, swept his division in straight heats with winning times of 2:07 and 2:04.1. Middletown residents Scott Baker, John Siena and Paolo Rosanelli own the 3 year old who has started four times and remains undefeated. He is trained and was driven by Ray Allen, whose stable is based right behind the grandstand at Historic Track.

“We’re going to take him to Saratoga next week for the New York Sire Stakes,” said Rosanelli. “Every race he drops two seconds. He has a few more seconds in the tank, I think.”

Three Good Fellows was named for the three partners who own him. They have owned horses together for eight years and have a 2-year-old full brother to the winner who is named John Paul Scott, also after the owners.

Slick Operator, a 3-year-old pacing gelding, also won his division in straight heats, timed in 2:03.3 and 2:02 for driver Brian Cross. Parks’ Breezy Knoll of Lowville, N.Y., owns the son of David’s Pass who is trained by Tim Hayes.

The 2-year-old pace division was won by Willobee Magic, who the final heat in 2:05 for trainer-driver Frank Galante. The 2-year-old trotters were split into three divisions with Paradise Rochelle (2:15.4), Bullville Girl (2:12), and Darsun (2:07.3) winning their respective events.

The $2,000 final of the Training Facility Challenge was also competed on the card with Spiro Zikoyanis’ RG Babe hitting the wire first in 2:01. This capped off a series of races pitting trainers from the local training centers against each other to earn points for the final. Zikoyanis, who owns and trains the winner, kept the trophy at home in Goshen; he has managed a stable at the track for two decades.
