EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – April 15, 2005 – Gryffindor [$7.80, $2.40, $2.10] nipped 2-5 favorite Jenna’s Choice [$2.20, $2.10] at the wire to win the $22,500 second round of the Robert J. Suslow, the third race on Friday night at the Meadowlands.

Gryffindor, driven by Eric Ledford and trained by Noel Daley, paced a lifetime best of 1:50.3 for the mile, winning by a nose. Jenna’s Choice had his winning streak snapped at two.

JJ’s Gazette [$2.10] closed for third, one and a quarter lengths back.

Gryffindor, a three-year-old son of Dragon Again, picked up his fourth win in eight starts this year. Hed has earned nearly $80,000 lifetime for the Sterlingbrook Farms Inc. of Sheldonville, Massachusetts.

“Last week he made a break, he was running in a little,” said Ledford. “But it was more my fault than the horse’s, and he still recovered to pace in 1:52. He’s been exception, really, in every start. The first crop of Dragon Again, I’ve raced a few, and can’t fault him as a sire.”

The $70,790 Suslow Final is on Friday, April 22.
