Gural meets with Christie’s administration

Columbus, OH — A meeting took place Friday morning between Jeff Gural and members of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie’s administration in regards to his ongoing negotiations to lease Meadowlands Racetrack.
When reached by phone late this afternoon, Gural offered the following comments:
“It appears that an incorrect story from the Asbury Park Press was posted without knowing all the facts of what transpired earlier today. While the state will be issuing a press release, I just want everyone to understand that we were not able to finalize a deal to lease the Meadowlands as I had hoped. We did make progress in flushing out the issues and expect to continue working next week.
“We will resume our schedule May 7, but my guess is if we are unable to reach a deal, racing will probably close at the end of May.
“We are working hard to solve these difficult issues and I appreciate the governor allowing the track to reopen on schedule.”
